Your team at Advanced Urology works closely with you to create an adrenal tumor treatment plan based on your unique needs, medical history, lifestyle and treatment preferences. We may recommend one of the following options to treat an adrenal tumor.

If a very small tumor (less than four centimeters) was discovered on a scan ordered for a different reason—and no symptoms are present—we may simply want to repeat the scan in six months to determine if any changes have occurred.

Laparoscopic Adrenal Surgery

Laparoscopic (minimally invasive) surgery is the treatment option of choice for benign adrenal tumors. In this procedure, small incisions are made in the abdomen, allowing the surgeon to place a camera inside the body to guide the surgery and remove the tumor.

Patients who undergo a laparoscopic procedure (compared to an open procedure) often experience the following benefits:

  • Shorter hospital stay
  • Less post-operative pain
  • Less blood loss
  • Shorter recovery
