The testicles (testes) are located inside the scrotum (the sac that is located beneath the penis) and function as part of the male reproductive system, producing sex hormones and sperm. Testicular cancer occurs when an abnormal growth of cells takes place in the testicles. The cause of testicular cancer is unknown, but the disease is highly treatable, even when it has spread outside the testicles.
