No Scalpel Vasectomy

The no scalpel vasectomy is performed using one single skin puncture, rather than cutting two large incisions on either side of the scrotum. It is a safe and minimally invasive vasectomy procedure with fewer side effects than that of the traditional vasectomy.

The no scalpel vasectomy was first performed in the United States in 1985. It now has become the primary form of male sterilization.

Benefits of the No Scalpel Vasectomy

  • Fewer side effects and complications (10 times fewer hematomas, infections, and other complications)
  • Less bleeding and less vasectomy pain
  • Faster procedure with no or minimal suturing required
  • Enhanced popularity and acceptance of vasectomy as the primary form of male sterilization

No Needle Vasectomy

Men who have a fear of needles or don’t want to feel pain when the needle is removed, can get the No Needle Vasectomy.

In the no needle vasectomy, the local anesthetic is delivered through the skin via a high-pressure sprayer to make the scrotum numb—decreasing the fear of needles and reducing the discomfort associated with a needle injection.

Pro Vas Occlusion Clip Vasectomy

The Pro Vas clip vasectomy is similar to the no scalpel vasectomy. First, the scrotum is numbed by using the no needle vasectomy technique where anesthetic is delivered through a high-pressure sprayer. Once the area is numb, one single skin puncture is made (versus two larger incisions with a traditional vasectomy). A small titanium spring clip is then clamped onto the vas deferens in order to block the flow of sperm. Unlike a no-scalpel vasectomy, the vas deferens is not cut, burned or removed from the scrotum.

In March 2011, Advanced Urology became the first urology practice in Denver and Colorado to perform vasectomy using the Pro-Vas Occlusion Clip. Learn more about this minimally invasive vasectomy option>>
